Best Bargains this Black…

BEST BARGAINS THIS BLACK FRIDAY   This Friday is famously known as Black Friday. This is the day where shops reduce their prices for keen shoppers  to get the best deals before Christmas. Black Friday originated in America and is always the day after US Thanksgiving. The tradition has crept across the pond and there are some great deals on the high street and online which are going to be very tricky to resist! Here at Joyce Guiness we love a bargain and thought that we would let you know our favourite bargains which are due to appear on Black Friday 2017!   MONICA VINADER Who doesn’t love Monica Vinader. Her pieces of jewellery are so simple, yet elegant and really go with everything you are wearing. Whilst I would love to treat myself to her pieces everyday, I feel that on Black Friday it is more justifiable! They are offering a whopping 30% off for Black Friday, which is making it very difficult to resist. If your will power is better than mine, you could use the discount to buy jewellery for friends and family or get someone to get it for you for Christmas.   MISSOMA Missoma is a favourite in our office, their quirky, cool jewellery is a real crowd pleaser and looks amazing. They are offering a black Friday deal, which must be amazing because when..

Our Night with Kiko…

OUR NIGHT WITH KIKO MATTHEWS   We have been talking about Kiko on our social media and blogs for quite a while now. So when Kiko asked if we wanted her to do a talk we absolutely leapt at the opportunity. If you have read our blogs on her before, you will know that we completely admire and respect what she is doing. Having heard her talk we are now in utter awe of her! Last night, we had such a great evening at the Marquis of Westminster with our candidates, clients and good friends. The prosecco was flowing and chips (sweet potato we’ll have you know) were being eaten. We were all there to listen to Kiko Matthews talk about her incredible solo transatlantic adventure in 2018. Our guests were all transfixed on the enormity of her row. The talk was factual, fascinating and hilarious! For those that don’t know, in January 2018, Kiko Matthews is aiming to row the Atlantic solo. She also wants to break the Women’s world record by 10 days, therefore completing the 3000 miles in 45 days. This would be no mean feat for anyone to achieve, but Kiko is doing it having overcome Cushing’s disease, as well as having the tumour raise it’s ugly head again, a few months ago, with just six months to go until the big row. In 2009, Kiko..

Must Visit Festive Pop…

At this time of year London comes into its prime. There are beautiful lights on every street, Christmas music blaring out from shops and restaurants as well as the most fun, funkiest pop up fayres and pop ups. We are going to tell you our favourite ones that we think you must visit before the festive period is over…   Winterland Do you remember way back to the summer, we kept telling you about the amazing little gem called Neverland? Well, they have replaced that summer hotspot to a winter paradise and it is better than you can imagine. Based on Wandsworth Bridge Road, there is something for everyone. For those that want to sit back and relax there are amazing little igloos which you can sit in and look out across the Thames. My personal highlight for Winterland is the games that are available to play. They can range from Prosecco Pong (how can you resist?!), table tennis and even curling. Perhaps you and your friends could be in the Olympic curling team 2018! Similar to Neverland, the food at Winterland is nothing short of delicious. There are fondues, steak frittes and raclette burgers, something for everyone.   Kew Gardens Light Display  Although personally I have never visited the Kew Gardens light display, it fills me with jealousy when I come across people that have. I am sure, like..

Cracking Christmas Cooking!

If you know Joyce Guiness, you know how much we love our food! We think that Christmas time is the perfect time to ditch those diets and start sampling all the delights that come at this time of year. We are going to give a run down of our favourite, festive foods and how to create them! PIGS IN BLANKETS To kick start, we are going to do a popular, much loved choice at Christmas- Pigs in Blankets. To find the best recipe we have called on Jamie Oliver who gives us a mouth watering version. Method Preheat the oven to 180ºC/350ºF/gas 4. Working one at a time, lay the bacon out on a board and run the sharp side of your knife along the length of the rasher to stretch it out – this will make it even crispier. Dot with a few herb leaves, then place a sausage at one end and roll the bacon around it until it’s totally wrapped up. Place in a roasting tray and repeat till they’re all done. Cook for 30 minutes, or until golden, gnarly and cooked through. Using a fish slice, scrape the pigs in blankets from the bottom of the tray, leaving them in there, then add the Worcestershire sauce and give it a good shake, scraping all that sticky goodness from the bottom of the tray. Drizzle in the..

New Year, New You!

We hear you, it was the day after Boxing Day, you were sitting there in a food coma and slightly champagne’d out. The thought of New Year resolutions were swirling through your head and it was then that you decided you would stop eating sugar, never drink again, become a gym bunny and look for a new job. Here at Joyce Guiness, we love helping people and this blog is going to give you top tips for sticking to the New Year Resolutions!   From gym classes to finding New Jobs we are here to help! GYM CLASSES When it is dark, cold and rainy it is easy to make excuses why either you cannot go to the gym before work or that you are too tired to go after work. One way to combat this is to sign up for a class. If you drop out, you are not only letting the instructor down, but also someone else who might have gone! There are plenty of amazing classes in London to suit everyone’s needs and even if you just do one once you have to see what you are missing! BARRE CORE Barre Core is Clare’s favourite! It is set apart from most classes because it uses a barre to tone and shape all your muscles. In their words you will leave the class feeling like ‘bambi’. PSYCLE LONDON Psycle..

It's that time of year again, and there’s nothing more exciting than the Wimbledon Championships! So for you tennis fans here is some information we thought you might be interested in: What’s changed for the 2018 Championships? One of the most notable differences this year is the increase in prize money, from £31.6m in 2017 to a whopping £34m - an increase of 7.6%. This figure is all the more astounding when compared to the prize fund of 10 years ago, which was only £11.8m Singles champions will each receive £2.25m in prize money. There will also be no clock on the court to keep track of the 25 seconds allowed between points in 2018. And there won’t be any plastic straws at Wimbledon this year either. So you’ll be having your Pimms straight from the glass. The Invictus Games 2018

The fourth Invictus Games are upon us and next week our MD, Pip Cox, is swapping the office for the stands as she goes with her family to support her brother Spencer Bull who will be competing in the GB team at the games in Sydney. Spencer will be competing in the swimming, sailing and shot put. The Invictus Games were started by Prince Harry four years ago and is for wounded, injured or ill servicemen and women who have served their countries in conflicts and have been affected physically or non-physically whilst doing so. The games are used as a way to encourage these people to incorporate sports into their rehabilitation programmes. They celebrate the strength of these people and all that they have done for their nations as well as raises awareness of the injuries caused by war. Invictus is Latin for the word ‘unconquered’ and the games show the fighting spirits displayed by those taking part. J J Chalmers, who is presenting the games on the BBC this year and is an Invictus Games gold medallist has said, “The games have changed my life so I live for the opportunity to help showcase them, especially as they continue to grow, educate, inspire and entertain”. In the UK alone, 1,100 people showed an interest in the games and 400 contestants competed to make the 72 person strong team..
