Summer In London

London Summer

For those of you that have spent a summer in London, you know it can be a very busy, expensive time of year.  When you finish work and the sun is out there is nothing better than to go outside and have a nice cold drink! There is a whole host of things to do in London in the summer other than just going to the pub though. Whether it is just exploring some parks you haven’t been to yet or trying out some new hotspots, we have collated some of the top things to do in London this summer season.

Outdoor Swimming

If we are in for another scorcher like we had last year, there is nothing quite as refreshing as a dip in some fresh, cold water. Lots of you do brave a swim during the cooler months, but it certainly isn’t as welcoming as when you are doing it to escape the daytime heat or to refresh after a long day. Whether you are looking for an outdoor pool, heated or not, then head over to the Lido’s spotted around the city or, if you are brave enough, you can head straight to the serpentine for some fresh water swimming!

Best Parks

If you don’t fancy cramming around a swimming pool, what’s better than lying in a park with some drinks and snacks, or even better, a BBQ. There are numerous parks dotted all over London and they are bound to be filled with people picnicking, listening to music and sunbathing throughout the sunny days. If a BBQ appeals to you however, make sure you check online beforehand to see if you are allowed to BBQ there! Luckily for you, we have included a list of the best parks to BBQ in (legally) across London. If you are looking for parks to explore and don’t wish to trip over people every other step, there’s no better place than Richmond Park. You can spend the day strolling around, spotting deer and talking to passing dog walkers whilst soaking up the sun and feeling like you are in the middle of the countryside.

Bars

Summer offers longer daylight hours and hopefully warmer weather, encouraging people to stay away from home longer and enjoy the balmy evenings after work. If you fancy an after work drink when the sun is shining, why would you want to sit inside? Check out some of the best rooftop bars and beer gardens for you to spend your evenings, or weekends, and soak up some rays and catch up with friends! That’s what summer is for after all…

Day Festivals

If you like drinking in the sun with friends during the day, why not do it whilst dancing to some of your favourite music in a park? London has numerous day festivals which happen throughout the summer, from Lovebox, to South West Four with Notting Hill Carnival finishing off the summer festivities. With a festival on almost every weekend, there is no shortage of opportunities to spend you weekends outside boogying. There is a whole host of music on offer and something for all the family!

Open Air Cinemas

It’s always a strange feeling walking out from a dark cinema into the light, and why would you want to spend a bright evening in the cinema when you could be watching some of your favourite films outside beneath the setting sun with a picnic?! Open air cinemas are set up across various locations in London, from parks to rooftops, and offer a variety of new films to old classics. Not costing much more than a normal cinema ticket, there’s no reason not to go watch a film outside this summer, especially when you don’t have to smuggle your mid movie snacks in your overflowing bags and pockets!

Have a fantastic summer in London and we hope the sun shines throughout!!
