Fundraising Blog

The sun is shining and summer is finally on its way! With these months looming, beach body preparations are no doubt underway! What better way to get fit than setting a challenge and raising some money for charity at the same time? With so many wonderful, worthy causes it is often hard to choose which charity to support as all of them need money raised. For me, I wanted to do it for a charity close to my heart.I think for most this is the root of the motivation to undergo a crazy mission! If you read our January blog, you would have seen some of the challenges which the other girls are taking part in this year. Recently we were privileged enough to meet Kiko Matthews who is single handedly rowing across the Atlantic (3000 miles!), she has set herself the challenge of, not only completing this mammoth mission, but also to become the fastest female to solo row unsupported! If you are interested, check out her website, it really is inspirational!   If you fancy a challenge this June, Cancer Research are ‘Walking all over Cancer’ with setting the task of walking 10,000 steps a day through June. This is the perfect opportunity to get fit and at the same time know you are raising money to beat cancer sooner. From reading other blogs on charity and fundraising,..

Our Night with Kiko…

OUR NIGHT WITH KIKO MATTHEWS   We have been talking about Kiko on our social media and blogs for quite a while now. So when Kiko asked if we wanted her to do a talk we absolutely leapt at the opportunity. If you have read our blogs on her before, you will know that we completely admire and respect what she is doing. Having heard her talk we are now in utter awe of her! Last night, we had such a great evening at the Marquis of Westminster with our candidates, clients and good friends. The prosecco was flowing and chips (sweet potato we’ll have you know) were being eaten. We were all there to listen to Kiko Matthews talk about her incredible solo transatlantic adventure in 2018. Our guests were all transfixed on the enormity of her row. The talk was factual, fascinating and hilarious! For those that don’t know, in January 2018, Kiko Matthews is aiming to row the Atlantic solo. She also wants to break the Women’s world record by 10 days, therefore completing the 3000 miles in 45 days. This would be no mean feat for anyone to achieve, but Kiko is doing it having overcome Cushing’s disease, as well as having the tumour raise it’s ugly head again, a few months ago, with just six months to go until the big row. In 2009, Kiko..

Kikplastic 2019

If you follow our blogs and social media, you will know that we have followed Kiko Matthews over the past year or two and you will know what amazing challenges she has overcome. Among other things, in March 2018, Kiko became the fastest woman to cross the Atlantic Ocean as a solo rower. She did this 3284 mile row in 49 days, 7 hours and 15 minutes, which is a whole week faster than the previous record holder. Kiko is now taking on a different challenge; cycling the coast of the UK and Northern Ireland with the intention of raising awareness of the problem of single use plastic. In recent years, the dramatic effects that plastics are having on the environment and the world’s oceans has been much more publicised and more steps are being taken towards the prevention of the amount of plastic. The amount of plastic straws being used has been cut down drastically, people are carrying reusable coffee cups, metal and glass bottles are becoming more and more popular and cotton buds have been changed from plastic to paper stems. Shops are slowly taking steps towards reducing their plastic consumption as well, with new plastic free aisles being introduced by various companies. This change won’t happen overnight however and so the work that people like Kiko are doing is helping to educate the public and support everyone..
